Justin Trudeau will be holding a press conference with the infamous Dr. Tam this morning for the first federal Covid update of 2022. Dr. Tam has come under fire repeatedly for what many see as an incompetent response to the pandemic.
Yesterday Trudeau spoke with B.C. Premier John Horgan, and plans to hold a call with the premiers next week to discuss ways to tackle the new variant. Multiple provinces have already postponed non-urgent surgeries, reduced access to Covid tests, and delayed the return to in-person learning for students, according to the Canadian Press.
Trudeau has repeatedly called for Canadians to get vaccinated against the virus. Trudeau claims he received a booster shot at an pharmacy in Ottawa on Tuesday. Trudeau came under fire recently for likening unvaccinated people to racists and misogynists.
Speaking on a French language show, Trudeau’s words were translated to be, “people who are fiercely against vaccination. They are extremists who don’t believe in science, they’re often misogynists, also often racists.” These comments were met with sharp criticism.
