The hashtag #BoycottMcDonalds trended for most of Wednesday on Twitter after the Ronald McDonald House announced that it would evict all unvaccinated residents over 5 years of age from its homes by the end of January. The move was described as “evil” and an act of “medical apartheid” by critics.

McDonalds is making waves on social media, for all the wrong reasons. The fast food restaurant has drawn the ire of Conservatives and anti-vaccine advocates after it announced it would evict all unvaccinated children from its residences by the end of January. Two of the affected families are based in Kelowna, British Columbia. Both parents have a child that suffers from leukemia, and they are afraid to risk giving their kids the Covid vaccine. One parent spoke to Castanet, stating:

“The way I interpreted the Bible is that this is wrong. Because there’s a lot of people in the Bible who said no to oppressive government, and I see the vaccine is like a tool of being used to oppress people.”

Conservative commentator Sebastian Gorka weighed in on McDonalds decision, calling for a boycott and likening the move to “medical apartheid for the poor.”
