Pierre Poilievre slammed the Liberal media during an interview with CPAC Thursday when asked about reports of “extremist groups” joining the ongoing trucker convoy.
Poilievre snapped back at the reporter, stating the Liberal media doesn’t apply the same standards to left-wing protests.
When asked about “extremist groups,” Poilievre pointed out that when there’s a left-wing protest on Parliament Hill, the Liberal media doesn’t pull the same guilt-by-association tactics they appear to be pulling on truckers.
Poilievre then pointed out the fact CBC has been accused of “systemic racism,” but that not everybody at CBC is a racist. His point was that just because there’s a few bad apples doesn’t mean the whole bunch is bad.
Tara Henley recently quit her job at CBC, saying the broadcaster was too woke; abandoning journalistic integrity to embrace “a radical political agenda.” Henley released an article about her troubles with the public broadcaster, which later went viral and lead to international media attention.
CBC has long been accused of having an overtly left-wing bias, a vocal proponent of defunding them being columnist Brian Lilley. It is notable that CBC has been caught on multiple occasions spreading fake news, and has been sued multiple times successfully for defamation.
In response to Poilievre’s interview, many on social media were observed praising his words, one person calling him a “true leader.” Poilievre has previously shown support for the trucker convoy, blaming Trudeau for the supply chain crisis and for contributing to empty shelves in grocery stores.
Meanwhile, Justin Trudeau has attempted to brush aside criticism of his vaccine mandates as “disinformation.” The convoy is set to reach Ottawa on Jan. 29.
