Canadian politician facing jail time over support of trucker convoy

Randy Hillier, a Canadian politician and COVID-19 skeptic, has been asked to turn himself in to Ottawa Police to face “serious” charges in relation to his support for the Freedom Convoy.

The MPP for Lanark—Frontenac—Kingston in Southern Ontario, Randy Hillier, is facing “serious criminal offences” due to his support and alleged involvement in the Freedom Convoy.

A reporter from the Toronto Sun made the announcement Sunday evening. Hillier is schedule to arrive at the police station at 7 am Monday, and to attend a bail hearing.

Hillier recently lost his Twitter account due to his controversial comments on COVID-19. In response to the news of Hillier’s imminent arrest, one person remarked that it was “unreal what Canada has become.” Another person suggested the Liberal government is using the police to arrest their political opponents.
