When MP Kevin Vuong won the Federal election in Sep. 2021, I knew I had to take action to stop this alleged sex offender from holding office.
Shortly after Kevin Vuong won the election for his riding of Spadina Fort-York in Toronto, I took action, and started a petition demanding his resignation. While the petition didn’t lead to Mr. Vuong doing the right thing, it succeeded in generating a lot of local media attention. The petition was widely shared on social media, and raised important questions about election integrity in Canada.
The Toronto Sun was the first outlet to pick it up. Global, the Toronto Star, and CTV were soon to follow. Even Conservative-leaning blog the Post Millennial wrote a story about it:
“The petition, started by Toronto99′s Mark Slapinski, asks Vuong to step down as MP for Spadina Fort-York, saying that ‘having Vuong in office will further erode society’s trust in elected officials.'”

The issue with Kevin Vuong’s election victory is that he failed to identify himself as an independent candidate. The Liberal Party cut ties with him after a withdrawn sexual assault charge was brought to light, something Vuong never disclosed to the party.
