POLL: Trudeau’s worst scandal was arresting protesters

The worst scandal Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was involved in was “arresting protesters,” according to a recent poll.

In February, Justin Trudeau declared emergency powers that gave his government the unprecedented power to seize bank accounts of peaceful protesters in Ottawa. The move was slammed by the Canadian Civil Liberties Association as being anti-democratic.

As a result of the powers, many people, including journalists, had their accounts frozen. The Ottawa Police were accused of excessive force after protesters were pepper-sprayed, and one person was trampled by a horse.

While Justin Trudeau technically doesn’t control the police, his ability to influence and pressure them into action is well-documented. In 2020, police began the process of shutting down Indigenous rail blockades, shortly after Trudeau gave the green light.
