MSM put out multiple fake stories about Freedom Convoy

The mainstream media in Canada has a bad track record when it comes to getting stories right, as evidenced by the multiple false claims that were published regarding the “Freedom Convoy.”

The mainstream media in Canada spread multiple lies about the “Freedom Convoy,” something that is being exposed by independent journalists. Holly Doan, owner of Blacklock’s Reporter, took the MSM to task for its shoddy record on accuracy in a recent twitter thread.

On Mar. 19, the Toronto Star inaccurately claimed that protesters had “weapons inside some of the trucks” and that “loaded shotguns were found.” This has never been proven. Since being caught, the Toronto Star has yet to issue a correction.

On Mar. 11, CBC News inaccurately claimed that the “total economic damage” to Ottawa was $200 million. However, it turns out compensation claims only totaled $820,000. Like the Toronto Star, CBC failed to issue a correction.

On Feb. 6, Global News inaccurately claimed that protesters attempted to burn down an Ottawa apartment building. Two local residents were later charged with arson and had “no connection to the convoy.” Global News also failed to issue a correction.
