On Monday Politico published a leaked document that indicates the Supreme Court has voted to strike down the landmark Roe vs. Wade decision. The news lead to protests in Washington, D.C.
Ted Cruz has weighed in calling the leak “stunning” and “truly horrifying.” He added that the leak will likely damage the “independence of the judiciary, the integrity of the Court, and the rule of law.”
Roe vs. Wade was a 1973 court decision that legalized abortion across the United States. The decision has long been criticized by Conservatives that wish to overturn to decision.
Cruz has previously spoken out against abortion, previously stating he would “allow the procedure only when a pregnancy endangers the mother’s life,” according to The Houston Chronicle.
Protests have already broken out in America’s capital, with many more protests planned. Some Conservative commentators have suggested that the Supreme Court judges ought to be fearful of their lives.
