Don Cherry trends as Canadians remember his legacy

Despite Leftist attacks on Don Cherry, he continues to have a place in Canadians’ hearts.

Don Cherry continues to trend on Twitter almost three years after he was cancelled by the woke mob.

The infamous sports commentator has a long history of doing charitable work, including raising money for veterans and vulnerable animals.

Veterans

Don Cherry has long been an advocate for veterans, raising money by selling poppies. In fact, he was fired from Sportsnet for reminding immigrants the importance of buying a poppy on Remembrance Day.

On November 9, 2019, during an episode of his show Coach’s Corner, Cherry made the now infamous remarks:

“You people that come here… you love our way of life, you love our milk and honey, at least you can pay a couple bucks for a poppy or something like that… These guys paid for your way of life that you enjoy in Canada, these guys paid the biggest price.”

Vulnerable animals

Don Cherry started a foundation to raise money for vulnerable animals.

Don Cherry’s Pet Rescue Foundation has raised money for charitable organizations all over the world, including an organization in the country of Colombia.

Organ donors

Don Cherry has supported other charitable causes including raising awareness of the importance of organ donations, according to his Wikipedia page.

While some will choose to focus on Don Cherry’s perceptibly sideways remarks, it’s disingenuous to omit the sportscaster’s long history of charitable work.
