A lawyer opposed to the Freedom Convoy has been accused of ‘predatory‘ sexual behaviour by multiple people.
James Bowie, an Ottawa-based lawyer and vocal critic of the Freedom Convoy protests, has been accused of sexual misconduct by a slew of sources.
An unnamed Ottawa woman has accused Bowie of offering his services in exchange for “sexual favours,” as was originally reported by CTV News.
Bowie’s accuser was a sexual assault survivor and described as “vulnerable” by her current lawyer.
Bowie allegedly tried to convince the woman to do cocaine with him, as well as pay for his services with oral sex.
Bowie’s accuser feels the lawyer “ruined her life” and she now feels “suicidal.” The woman claims she felt afraid to eat, sleep, or leave the house after the alleged abuse.
However, the unnamed woman is not alone is accusing James Bowie of sexual misconduct. After the story broke, it was posted to Reddit, and others have come forward with similar allegations against Bowie. According to one Redditor:
“As a young, female lawyer from Ottawa, I can tell you I’ve been warned many times by esteemed members of our profession to never be alone with him in a room.
Plus, long before his Freedom Convoy tweeting claim to fame, we all knew of him as the creepy guy who had sex with a student at work and had heard rumours that he hires and mistreats sex workers. Bad vibes all around, these allegations don’t surprise me at all.”
Many comments refer to Bowie as a “creep.” One Redditor claims he has a history of “forcing himself” on women. According to another Redditor:
“He used to message me all the time saying ‘it’s taco Tuesday, let’s get fucked up and snort blow off each other’s bodies and fuck until the sun comes up.’ Every single Tuesday for almost a whole year.”
In addition, James Bowie is in trouble with the law society for failing to co-operate with “three investigations.”
In response to the story, Bowie claimed on Twitter that the allegations were “fake.”
Independent journalist Andy Lee slammed Bowie for this statement, calling him a “predatory piece of trash.” Lee reported on the Freedom Convoy protests in January and February 2022.
Lee attached a screenshot, purporting to show an inappropriate Snapchat conversation between Bowie and one of his alleged victims.
NOTE: This article contains the author’s opinion. None of the allegations against James Bowie have been proven in court. The lawyer maintains his innocence.
