The CPC leader is not showing Justin Trudeau’s state broadcaster any mercy.
Pierre Poilievre has dished out near-daily attacks on the CBC since he has taken over as leader of the Conservative Party of Canada.
On Thursday Poilievre shared an article by Colby Cosh of the National Post titled: CBC editorial independence is a lie.
In summary, the article claims that CBC is not independent of the Liberal government, citing a “frivolous” lawsuit it filed against the CPC during the 2019 federal election.
The state broadcaster, which receives over a billion dollars of taxpayer money a year, is frequently criticized for being an unnecessary cost.
Furthermore, it has a history of spreading fake news. CBC has been found guilty in various courtrooms for defamation.
While not every story it publishes is fake or inaccurate, it is generally criticized for having a perceived left-wing bias.
Toronto Sun columnist Brian Lilley has devoted a significant amount of time pushing this angle.
Poilievre has vowed to defund the CBC if elected prime minister, a position that many conservative voters agree with.
Poilievre has previously referred to the CBC as “Trudeau’s billion-dollar propaganda arm.”
