Tarek Fatah, father of Natasha Fatah, dead at 73

The CBC journalist announced the death of her father Monday morning.

Toronto Sun columnist Tarek Fatah is dead after a lengthy battle with cancer, according to his daughter.

Tarek Fatah has passed the baton on … his revolution will continue with all who knew and love him,” wrote Natasha Fatah.

The columnist fell ill with cancer after previously beating the disease a decade ago.

His time in the hospital lead to his daughter taking a leave of absence from CBC.

Toronto mayoral candidate and True North contributor Anthony Furey was one of the many high-profile names to share his condolences.

It was an honour and a privilege to call the great Tarek Fatah my friend and colleague. He was a remarkable man whose passing is being mourned by people of all backgrounds all over the world.”

Furey contributes to the Toronto Sun, the same publication the late Fatah contributed to.

Fellow columnist Lorrie Goldstein described his former colleague as “fearless” in an opinion piece published shortly after his demise.
