Turkish police CRACK DOWN on Pride events, over 100 arrested

The middle eastern country has little tolerance for celebrations that don’t abide by cultural norms.

113 people were arrested in Istanbul during an illegal gay pride celebration, according to Balkan Insight. Gay and lesbian related events have been banned across the country.

The recently re-elected Turkish president Tayyip Erdogan vowed to crack down on LGBT-aligned celebrations in the country as he moves to protect traditional family values.

Journalists were prohibited from documenting the event in Istanbul, however pictures and video of the illegal celebration made their way online.

The crackdowns are in stark contrast to the left-leaning city of Toronto. The recent pride celebration in Canada’s largest city saw older men flashing their genitals to little kids, as was reported by Fox News.
