CBC sued for $10.5 million for allegedly promoting vaccine disinformation

A mother is suing CBC and the federal government, claiming she was ‘mislead’ about the safety of the Covid vaccine.

Carrie Sakamoto, a 47 year old mother, is suing the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) along with others for allegedly spreading inaccurate information on the Covid vaccine.

The Attorney General of Canada, the Minister of Health, the Chief Public Health Officer, and Health Canada have been listed as co-defendants alongside CBC.

The lawsuit asks for $5 million in general damages, $2.5 million in special damages, and $3 million in punitive damages. The total amount sought is $10.5 million.

It is important to note that the claim has not been proven in court. Health authorities around the world still consider vaccines to be safe and effective.
