Post Media has proved that it’s no better than the left-wing outlets it competes with.
The Toronto Sun, a supposedly right-leaning publication, is being dragged through the mud by conservatives after it tried to force an apology out of Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre for the alleged misdeeds of one of his MPs.
The article, written by left-wing journalist Stephanie Taylor of the Canadian Press and published by the Toronto Sun, criticizes Calgary MP Jasraj Singh Hallan for posing with two men wearing shirts that read “leave our kids alone.”
Hallan and Poilievre were further criticized for not giving the Canadian Press a comment on the matter. In response to the article’s publication, Diana Murphy asked, “what does the Toronto Sun have against children?“
Other conservative commentators weighed in. Efrain Flores Monsanto, the director of production for Rebel News, slammed the use of the word “controversial” in the headline.
Many have pointed out that the idea of keeping children safe in schools and free from hard-left ideology should not be considered controversial.
This is not the first time the Toronto Sun has published an article that unfairly criticizes a conservative politician.
Toronto 99 previously reported on a Toronto Sun article written by leftist Warren Kinsella that referred to Alberta Premier Danielle Smith as “dumb.”
Articles like this can barely be distinguished from articles posted on left-wing outlets such as CTV or the Toronto Star.
Perhaps the bail-out money given to Post Media is responsible for its supposedly conservative-leaning publications the Toronto Sun and the National Post turning on politicians like Poilievre and Smith.
When a publication like the Toronto Sun publishes drivel such as the aforementioned article, it no longer serves conservative readers looking for high-quality news and well-informed opinions about issues they care about.
The Toronto Sun is throwing away its credibility and tarnishing its reputation for a Liberal paycheque. And by doing so, it becomes another cog in Trudeau’s propaganda apparatus.
Nowadays, it is hard to call either the Toronto Sun or the National Post conservative-friendly publications. They are now drifting into CINO territory. These publications truly are becoming conservative in name only.
This is why supporting independent media organizations like Toronto 99 is more important than ever. This website has not received a single cent from the Trudeau government, and if we were offered money, we wouldn’t take it.
