Trudeau’s chief of staff caught sharing FAKE NEWS from the Guardian

Liberals are trying to deflect attention from the prime minister’s failed marriage and falling poll numbers.

Katie Telford, chief of staff for Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau, is being blasted by Conservative MPs for sharing an inaccurate news article from the unreliable, left-biased news outlet the Guardian.

On Thursday Telford shared the Guardian hit-piece that falsely claims that Canada has “zero pro-choice MPs.” The article was later debunked by Twitter’s community notes.

The hit-piece cites the Abortion Rights Coalition of Canada (ARCC), a group with an apparent stake in promoting the interests of the Liberal government, according to independent journalist Andy Lee.

The article does little to push back on statements from the ARCC that falsely claim that all Conservative MPs in Canada are anti-pro-choice just because they voted to protect pregnant women from violence.

Pierre Poilievre, the leader of the Conservative Party (CPC) is pro-choice. The article even admits that while he will allow his MPs to introduce anti-abortion private member’s bills, he will not move to ban abortion himself.

The disinformation label now pinned on Trudeau’s chief of staff. You guys are cooked. Give it up! Bill C-311 had nothing to do with with abortion but everything to do with protecting a pregnant women,” wrote Conservative MP Ryan Williams in response to Telford’s post.

Just because all Conservative MPs in Canada voted in favour of protecting pregnant women, and making being pregnant while suffering an assault an aggravating factor for the purpose of sentencing, does not automatically make all Conservative MPs in Canada anti-pro-choice.

The Guardian has a history of failed fact-checks, and has been rated as being unreliable, according to Media Bias Fact Checker.

We rate The Guardian Left-Center biased based on story selection … and Mixed for factual reporting due to numerous failed fact checks over the last five years,” the independent fact-checker states on its website.

This is not the first time people affiliated with the Liberal government have spread fake news. Last year Mark Gerretsen apologized after spreading disinformation over a Canada Day convoy that never happened.

Trudeau’s mouthpiece, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), has been sued multiple times for defamation. It even admitted to spreading disinformation about the Freedom Convoy, as was previously reported by Toronto 99.
