Premier Smith tells Trudeau she won’t comply with net-zero electricity regulations

The premier of Alberta is giving the Liberal government the finger, telling them to keep their Green Agenda away from the province.

Danielle Smith, the recently elected premier of Alberta, has no plans to comply with the Trudeau government’s net-zero electricity regulations.

The draft federal 2035 net-zero power grid regulations are unconstitutional, irresponsible and do not align with Alberta’s emissions reduction and energy development plan that works towards a carbon-neutral power grid by 2050,” Smith told the Liberal government in a statement Thursday.

Ottawa plans to make the power grid net-zero by the year 2035. Convicted climate criminal Steven Guilbeault wants to “minimize” the amount of fossil fuel-fired electricity on power grids.

Smith has long butted heads with the Liberal government, specifically with Trudeau and Guilbeault. The latter is extremely unpopular in the province. Banker Brett Wilson has called for Guilbeault’s arrest on several occasions.

We will not let Albertans suffer by implementing this policy,” said Smith in a statement posted to X (Twitter) on Thursday.
