The message is clear: Justin Trudeau is not off the hook, yet.
A select group of participants in the 2022 Freedom Convoy have returned to Ottawa on the two-anniversary of Justin Trudeau’s authoritarian clampdown on the mostly peaceful protest.
The group announced a meeting on Parliament Hill on Saturday, but clarified that it will not be a repeat of what happened in 2022, as was reported by local media.
Two years ago, the Trudeau government granted itself authoritarian powers, leading to bank accounts of certain protesters and journalists being frozen.
Police used tear gas and batons to clear protesters from the nation’s capital, leading to numerous injuries.
Toronto 99 previously reported on how then-independent journalist Andy Lee, now employed by Rebel News, was pepper sprayed and had her bank accounts frozen.
Recently, a judge ruled that the use of the Emergencies Act was not justified. Tamara Lich and other protest organizers are suing the federal government for alleged violations of their Charter rights.
