Trudeau’s authoritarian new ‘online harms bill’ has been unveiled, and even the left has concerns.
Canadian Justice Minister Arif Virani unveiled the long-awaited “online harms bill” on Monday, which proposes sending those who violate the Liberals’ rules to prison for life.
The legislation is being marketed as a way to combat “harmful” content online and to “protect” children, however critics believe it is a trojan horse designed to give the Trudeau government even more control over the internet.
While conservatives are naturally opposed to the legislation, some on the left have expressed their incredulity at some of the language in the act.
“Life in prison for hate speech?” asked left-wing commentator Andrew Coyne, and he’s not the only one.
