Journalist arrested at rally outside Toronto City Hall

Olivia Chow’s police continue to crack down on anyone questioning or critical of the left-wing mobs.

A journalist was arrested during a pro-Hamas rally in downtown Toronto Sunday, sparking claims of censorship and favourtism by the city’s police department.

David Menzies, employed by non-legacy media outlet Rebel News, was arrested outside City Hall in Toronto after trying to ask questions of the pro-Hamas mob that was stationed in the area.

Menzies was charged for allegedly violating the Trespass to Property Act. The incident was caught on tape, and the arrest was corroborated by local media.

Critics have slammed the arrest for following a pattern of “two-tiered policing,” with anti-Semites allowed to participate in hate rallies unimpeded while journalists get arrested for questioning them.

In Communist China, journalists are often arrested or disappeared for reporting negatively on the government. China is the biggest global jailer of journalists, as was reported by the Associated Press.

In Canada, politicians like Justin Trudeau or Olivia Chow do not directly control the police, which maintain a certain independence from the government.

However, arrests of journalists such as Menzies or activists such as Salman Sima in Toronto have raised questions about the police’s impartiality.
