Amid increasing legal pressure, the British Big Pharma giant has pulled its product from the shelves worldwide.
AstraZeneca, a large biopharmaceutical business headquartered in England, has announced that it is pulling its Covid-19 vaccine from the market.
The Covid-19 vaccine, known as Vaxzevria, has been discontinued in the European Union, and will soon be discontinued in other countries.
This comes as AstraZeneca faces multiple lawsuits related to serious injuries and deaths allegedly caused by their Covid-19 vaccines.
British man Jamie Scott is suing the pharmaceutical giant after its product allegedly left him with a serious brain injury, as was reported by Toronto 99.
Another British man, Alex Reid, died after taking the AstraZeneca jab which gave him a blood clot, as was recently reported by the BBC.
The pharmaceutical giant even admitted in court documents that its product can cause a “rare” side effect, as was reported by the Telegraph.
AstraZeneca claims its vaccine is being pulled due to the product’s inferiority, especially when compared to other vaccines available on the market.
While Covid-19 vaccines can lead to serious injury or death in certain cases, they are still considered safe and effective by health authorities across the world, including in Canada.
None of the claims in the ongoing lawsuits have been tested in court, and the company maintains it acted in good faith when developing and promoting its products.
