Premier Smith passes new bill targeting illegal immigrants

The Alberta premier takes election integrity more seriously than any other premier.

Danielle Smith, the premier of Alberta, recently passed Bill 20, which will make it harder for illegal immigrants to vote in municipal elections.

Previously, an elector could vouch for an individual’s age, residence, and identity. The law has been updated so that an elector can only vouch for an individual’s address.

Smith’s government previously warned the city of Calgary and Edmonton that it wouldn’t tolerate non-citizens voting in municipal elections, as was reported by Toronto 99.

Bill 20 also bans automatic voting equipment, including electronic voting tabulators to prevent cheating in elections and uphold election integrity.

The Trudeau government has recently unveiled a program that will grant citizenship to illegal aliens that chose not to abide by Canada’s immigration rules, a move that will likely sway further elections in their favour.
