EASTBOUND ENERGY: Quebec grows warm to cancelled pipeline project

It appears Canadians in the French-speaking province of Quebec have had a change of heart.

An increasing number of Quebec residents are open to building the Energy East pipeline, according to a recent poll.

Support for Energy East has risen to 47% of Quebecers, which is a significant jump from 33% back in 2019, according to a poll by Angus Reid.

Energy East refers to a cancelled project to build a pipeline to carry oil from Western Canada to Eastern Canada.

This change of heart is likely due to the threat of tariffs by Donald Trump on Canadian energy projects, according to an analysis by research associate Jon Roe.

Alberta premier Danielle Smith and Nova Scotia premier Tim Houston have proposed a similar project to that of Energy East.
