Pierre Poilievre still has a shot at becoming the next prime minister, contrary to what you may have read.
The Conservative Party (CPC) lead by Pierre Poilievre is still poised to form a minority government next federal election.
The CPC is polling at 35%, whereas Mark Carney‘s Liberal Party (LPC) is polling at 34%, according to a recent poll by Nanos.

The CPC seemed all but certain to win a supermajority in the next federal election. However, it appears that with the appointment of a new leader the LPC is once again regaining momentum.
Contrary to what some political commentators are saying on X, it appears that the CPC is not losing support. Rather, NDP voters are switching over to the LPC.
The CPC’s numbers have remained relatively unchanged over the last 2 years. A new Liberal leader and the threat of Donald Trump’s tariffs are possible reasons for a resurgence of the LPC’s popularity.
Further, Carney has adopted some of Poilievre’s popular policies, including slashing the carbon tax and removing GST on home purchases.
