CBC ordered to pay $300k in legal fees in defamation case

Taxpayers are on the hook once again, covering for CBC’s mistakes.

CBC was ordered to pay just under $300,000 in legal fees on top of the near $1.7 million it owes after a successful defamation lawsuit was filed by a man that claims the state broadcaster ruined his life.

This is the costliest defamation case in Manitoba’s history, according to Blacklock’s reporter.

This is not the first time CBC has been caught red-handed spreading fake news. However, this time it cost them, and ultimately the taxpayers, heavily.

After a successful defamation lawsuit was filed by an investment advisor due to CBC’s inaccurate and defamatory coverage, the company is being forced to pay just below $2 million.

The initial judgement was $1,659,403, with the judge recently awarding costs at $295,017.15.

The judgement on costs was delivered on Mar. 4, 2022.

They should NOT be funded by tax payers money. To me they are bought and paid for by the government of the day. Trudeau gives them our money then there is a favour owed to the government. If CBC cannot run their company properly, they need to fold.

Patti, you just opened my eyes. You wrote “Trudeau gives them our money then there is a favor owed to the government.” OUR MONEY! So technically they owe US the favors. Isn’t that interesting. Maybe somebody should remind the Canadian public that the CBC WORKS FOR US !!!

Jack Nagler (ombudsman for CBC) ruled in CBC’s favor a lot. I had watched the Nova Scotia lobster fiasco and I felt they were portraying the fisherman like rednecks. CBC sent me to Jack and he started to spin on email. I researched Jack he is a former CBC employee. You can figure rest out. The liberal white guys were fine with them until CBC pointed out their colonialism. I think half of the staff should be conservatives and libertarians

Then we will have some dialogue

This enforce the idea to defund the CBC completely, anyway, they spread lies most of the time and when caught, we the public pay again, it’s a never ending story, enough propaganda!
