A Toronto-based radiologist and social media influencer has come forward to criticize the Canadian Prime Minister for calling unvaccinated people names. Justin Trudeau previously likened unvaccinated people to “racists” and “misogynists.”
Does being opposed to vaccines make one racist or misogynistic? The obvious answer is “no,” but this is exactly the kind of rhetoric the prime minister of Canada has used. Many people were put off by the “hateful” remarks, with at least one man actively moving to press charges. A Toronto-area doctor has come forward, saying Trudeau has taken the wrong approach, and that the prime minister’s words have been less than helpful.
Dr. David Jacobs wrote to his Twitter followers on Friday, stating that while he is an advocate for vaccination, there are “right ways and wrong ways to encourage the vaccine hesitant to protect themselves.” Dr. Jacobs then took a stab at Justin Trudeau for his use of name-calling.
Dr. Jacobs previously criticized Trudeau for his decision to ban unvaccinated truckers from Canada. This decision indirectly lead to a massive, weeks-long protest in the capital of the country. While the protest didn’t succeed in the removal of the Federal vaccine mandates, or result in Trudeau stepping down, many provinces dropped their restrictions soon after the protests. The protest organizers are currently facing criminal charges related to the mostly peaceful protest.
At the time of writing over 10 billion COVID-19 vaccines have been administered. The virus has killed over 6.1 million people worldwide, according to John Hopkins. Health authorities in Canada consider vaccines to be safe and effective.
