The head of the Canadian Anti-Hate Network stated in an interview that he’s “impressed” with a reported “Neo-Nazi” raid that happened Thursday in Quebec.
Canadian police are taking steps to crack down on organized right-wing groups that hold unacceptable views and / or engage in militant forms of activism.
This move has delighted left-wing activists and journalists, who have been pressuring law enforcement and the government for years to silence their political rivals.
On Thursday, approximately 60 RCMP officers conducted raids southwest of Quebec City, targeting people connected to an ultranationalist group, the Atomwaffen Division.
Notably, no arrests were made. However, police didn’t rule out arrests in the future. Experts have speculated police are collecting evidence for future raids.
Bernie Farber was delighted and “impressed” with the actions of the RCMP, even though its raid lead to zero arrests, and the group posed “no threat to the general pubic.” Speaking to CBC News, Farber was quoted as saying:
“I have to say that I’ve been impressed with the amount of attention that they have paid to not only Atomwaffen but to other groups of its kind — hardcore right, neo-Nazi white supremacist groups. They’re taking every precaution and doing things the right way. I think this is what Canadians should be applauding.”
The Atomwaffen is described by the Anti-Defamation League (ADF) as an active “Neo-Nazi” group that emerged in 2016. The name Atomwaffen itself comes from the German phrase for “atomic weapons.”
The Atomwaffen is considered a “terrorist entity” by the Canadian government, having been added to the list in Feb. 2021.
It is notable that Bernie Farber has a history of spreading disinformation to advance his political interests. He was caught spreading a “hate hoax” to smear Freedom Convoy participants back in February.
