Michael Chong SLAMS Trudeau for failing to protect family from the CCP: ‘Serious, national threat’

A Conservative MP has taken Trudeau to task for failing to inform him about CCP thugs targeting his family abroad.

Michael Chong, MP for Wellington-Halton Hills, slammed Justin Trudeau on Monday after it came to light the prime minister failed to warn him about CCP agents that were targeting his family in Hong Kong.

Chong wrote in a statement:

“I am profoundly disappointed to find out through a Globe and Mail report that the Trudeau government knew two years ago a PRC diplomat, working out of the consulate in Toronto, was targeting my family in Hong Kong.

The government’s ongoing failure to act leaves all Canadians vulnerable to the foreign interference threat activities of the PRC and other authoritarian states bent on undermining our democracy.”

Chong expressed concern that the Trudeau government failed to alert him about the danger his family was in, only learning about the issue through a Globe and Mail article.

Mr. Wei Zhao, the Chinese diplomat accused of targeting Chong’s family, continues to be approved to work in Canada.

Despite the fact Zhao is accused of interfering in Canada politics, he has not been expelled by the Trudeau government.

Chong stated that it is “dumbfounding that the government continues to turn a blind eye to the threat of foreign interference.”
