Danielle Smith SLAMS Trudeau’s broadcaster for spreading disinformation: ‘The CBC and NDP lied’

The premier of Alberta has cleared her name after false reports from the media.

Danielle Smith is pushing back against false reports from the CBC, which inaccurately claimed that she e-mailed the crown prosecutor’s office in an effort to have a case dropped.

The Ethics Commissioner noted in a ruling released Thursday that “that no Crown prosecutor was emailed directly about any of the cases.”

In a letter posted to Twitter, the premier wrote that “the CBC and NDP have repeatedly lied to Albertans for months.”

This is not the first time that the CBC has been caught red-handed spreading disinformation about conservatives.

In 2022, Trudeau’s broadcaster retracted several false stories about the Freedom Convoy. The organization later tried to gaslight Canadians by saying this never happened.

In 2021, CBC was found guilty of defamation and ordered to pay a $1.7 million judgement. The organization was later hit with a bill for the plaintiff’s legal costs.

Trudeau’s broadcaster has a long history of being sued successfully for defamation, having ruined the lives of two doctors in separate incidents.

The CBC is currently being sued by Subway for false reporting on the content of its chicken to the tune of $210 million. That matter is still before the courts.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the CBC stated that it stands by its reporting of Danielle Smith. The premier is considering legal action against Trudeau’s broadcaster, and may launch a defamation lawsuit after the next election.
