A far-left politician in Western Canada has provided his own definition of the word ‘woke.‘
The Conservative Party of Canada (CPC) has dedicated part of its platform to destroying “woke” culture, and everything associated with it.
Peter Julian, an MP representing the riding of New Westminster—Burnaby in British Columbia, would arguably fit the CPC’s definition of woke.
Julian has an extreme left-wing political affiliation, as evidence by his association with the NDP.
As the MP religiously criticizes CPC leader Pierre Poilievre on social media, he has provided his own definition of the term. Writing on Twitter:
“Woke means being anti-racist.
Woke means opposing hate in all its toxic forms…”
Julian went as far as to accuse CPC leader Pierre Poilievre of “bathing in foreign interference by plagiarizing Republican hate campaigns.”
The exact definition of woke is the subject of much disagreement.
Conservative blogger Spencer Fernando has provided his own definition of the term, saying “woke” is another word for “neo-communism.”
“While ‘Woke’ is a funny term, it makes more sense to start saying ‘Neo-Communists’…
There is a clear ideology behind a lot of this, and that ideology needs to be called out. ‘Neo-Communism’ is a growing extremist problem.”
