Moses Lewin, identified as the Eglinton subway stabber, was previously released on bail

Trudeau’s soft-on-crime policies have a human price-tag on them.

Moses Lewin, a 25-year old black man, has been identified by police as the perpetrator of the recent stabbing at Eglinton subway station in Toronto.

The 25 year old is wanted by police for attempted murder, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.

The “failure to comply” charges indicate Lewin was previously let out of prison for other crimes. He is not the only offender to go on to commit more offences after being released on bail.

The stabbing sent shockwaves through the country. A video of the incident, caught on a passenger’s cell phone, received international media attention with political commentators in the United States weighing in on the incident.

Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre vowed to make it harder for violent offenders like Lewin to receive bail if he becomes prime minister.

Sitting prime minister Justin Trudeau has been criticized by Poilievre for being too soft on crime. Toronto mayor-elect Olivia Chow has faced similar criticism.

Critics are concerned Chow will defund the police once she takes the reigns as mayor, making the crime problem in Toronto worse. Chow, a suspected Chinese asset, is expected to take charge of Toronto in mid-July.
