The Canadian prime minister has lost control of his well-funded propaganda apparatus.
Susan Delacourt, described as one of Justin Trudeau’s most trusted cheerleaders, admitted in a recent column that the Canadian prime minister is at the end of his career, and his political rival Pierre Poilievre is almost guaranteed to win the next federal election.
Delacourt points to the a recent Abacus poll that suggests over half of Canadians – 53% – have a negative impression of the sitting prime minister.
The headline for the article reads Justin Trudeau is a problem for his party — and even if he quits, it might not save the Liberals.
With even the traditionally left-wing and pro-Trudeau Toronto Star pumping out unusually negative articles about the current prime minister, many have declared this period the beginning of the end for the Liberal government.
A recent poll by Nanos Research indicates that Poilievre’s Conservative Party (CPC) is 15 points ahead of Trudeau. Toronto 99 has previously reported on Trudeau’s falling poll numbers and Poilievre’s ever growing popularity.
2023 saw the prime minister face a series of scandals and public embarrassments, ranging from his separation from long-time wife Sophie, to a criminal investigation into the Liberal ArriveCan app.
That is on top of claims of widespread Chinese-state interference in Canada’s electoral process. To boot, Trudeau was accused of using hard drugs by an Indian diplomat. His office denied these claims, despite widespread circulation on social media.
