CTV caught smearing Conservatives again

Fake news is the enemy of the people.

Conservative Party (CPC) leader Pierre Poilievre is calling out CTV News after it was caught red-handed spreading fake news about him.

Poilievre accused CTV of twisting around in his words in a recent broadcast. The company apologized for the error, claiming it was a “misunderstanding during the editing process.”

For Poilievre and his media team, the “apology” did not go far enough. Sebastian Skamski, Poilievre’s media relations representative, claimed on X (Twitter) that the fake news spread by CTV was not a “misunderstanding,” and suggested it was done deliberately to harm his boss.

As a result of CTV’s bad behaviour, Poilievre has directed his MPs not to engage with CTV News journalists until a more substantial apology is issued.

CTV, and other legacy media outlets, have a long-documented history of smearing conservatives and right-wing causes.

Former Conservative Party leadership candidate Patrick Brown successfully sued CTV, with the company admitting in 2022 that it had published information that was “incorrect and required correction.”

Toronto 99 has dedicated a whole section of its website to fact-checking the mainstream media. Notable is the series of disinformative articles published by CBC News about the 2022 Freedom Convoy.
