Tamara Lich and Chris Barber, two of the lead organizers of the 2022 Freedom Convoy, have been found guilty in an Ottawa courtroom today.
Both Lich and Barber were found guilty of mischief for their roles in organizing a protest that gridlocked several blocks in downtown Ottawa for three weeks at the beginning of 2022.
The protest was held primarily against vaccine mandates, but attendees also aired frustrations with the Justin Trudeau government.
While the protest succeeded in generating international media attention, many residents of Ottawa complained about loud noises and littering from the participants.
Lich and Barber were acquitted of several other charges, including intimidation and obstruction, according to an independent journalist covering the trial. Lich has stated that she plans to appeal the guilty verdict.
