A group of anti-vaccine activists are being labelled as “scumbags” online after they protested an Ontario politician’s home late Monday night. Police were called in to keep the peace after protesters gathered in the Deputy Premier’s front yard.

A small group of protesters met outside Christine Elliott’s home, banging pots and pans, and yelling chants such as “hands off our kids!” This follows a trend of anti-Covid protesters targeting politician’s homes. Previously, Mayor John Tory’s condo has been targeted, as has Premier Doug Ford’s home. About a half dozen people gathered in front of Elliott’s home, with some stepping on her front lawn. Police officers were called the keep the peace. No arrests have been reported.

The incident was streamed live on the Instagram account of one of the attendees. In response to the video, Toronto Sun columnist Warren Kinsella stating that the police should “arrest all of these scumbags.” Another person pointed out that this “wouldn’t have been tolerated 30 years ago” and that “policing has changed.”

Christine Elliott is MPP for the riding of Newmarket—Aurora and is currently the Deputy Premier as well as the Minister of Health in Ontario.

Previously, Christine Elliott was the victim of a disinformation campaign after Chris Sky and other anti-vaccine activists circulated a fake letter. According to CTV, the letter was “manufactured to look like Christine Elliott and her colleague Sylvia Jones are calling for the federal government to criminalize being unvaccinated and apprehend those who are.”
