Andrew Scheer slams Trudeau’s vaccine mandates, says ‘thank you’ to truckers

The former leader of the Conservative Party of Canada (CPC) thanked truckers on Monday while slamming Trudeau’s tough stance on unvaccinated drivers. This comes as over 1,000 truckers pass by Saskatoon on their way to Ottawa to protest what they perceive to be “authoritarian” moves by the prime minister. A fundraiser to help with fuel costs and lodging is now over $4.1 million.

Andrew Scheer, a Conservative MP based in Saskatchewan and the former leader of the CPC, took to Twitter to express his support for the ongoing truckers’ protests. A large convoy of truckers is making its way to the nation’s capital to block traffic, protest Parliament and “take back Canada.” Scheer wrote to his Twitter followers: “Thank you Truckers! Trudeau is attacking personal liberty and threatening everyone’s ability to get groceries because of his overreach on vaccine mandates. He is the biggest threat to freedom in Canada.”

Grocery stores around the country are worried about running out of stock, an issue that is being pushed heavily by Conservative politicians. The chair of the Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers raised serious concerns with the supply chain, stating that grocers noticed a reduced supply of certain items “about a week or so ago. We are experiencing product shortages with regard to cross-border shipments. It’s already starting to ramp up,” he told Canada’s public broadcaster.
