Tamara Lich, the lead organizer of the Canadian ‘Freedom Convoy’ has been denied bail in an Ottawa courtroom and will have to await her trial in prison.
Lich’s bank accounts remain frozen as a result of her involvement in raising funds for the convoy. After Trudeau’s invocation of the Emergencies Act, banks can seize accounts belonging to Canadians without a court order.
Tamara Lich will be spending at least several months in jail after she was denied bail by an Ottawa judge. Ontario Court Justice Julie Bourgeois stated that Lich’s detention was necessary for the “protection and safety of the public.”
“I cannot be reassured that if I release you into the community that you will not reoffend.”
Lich was the one that spearheaded the successful GoFundMe, and later the GiveSendGo fundraiser. Her bank accounts remain frozen, which complicated her bid to receive bail. Local media reported that Tamara Lich is forbidden from communicating with co-organizers including Chris Barber.
